The Anambra South Senatorial District seat in the National Assembly has remained vacant since July 2024 when Late Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah went the way of all mortals.
A number of aspirants from different backgrounds have indicated interest to fill the vacant seat as senator representing the zone.
One man who stands out in the pack is Chief Ebuka Onunkwo, a successful businessman, a partyman, philanthropist, an articulate entrepreneur and energetic politician who is in tune with the grassroots.
Onunkwo who is the Managing Director,Chief Executive Officer of Seahorse Lubricant Limited has his factory in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo LGA, employing over 500 of skilled and semi skilled labour directly and providing livelihood to many families.
By this singular investment, Onunkwo popularly called Odoziobodo( builder of nation) has led the way in demonstrating that Anambra is home to genuine investment, he is also already addressing the menace of insecurity and poverty in the area through employment.
Onunkwo, a multiple award winner in education and business is also an international businessman who is not only making money and bringing it home, he is also galvanising Igbo community in diaspora which earned him the exalted position of “Eze-Igbo na Benin Republic”.

Onunkwo through this gesture has given opportunity to intelligent but indigent youths access to educational empowerment and most of these beneficiaries are from the Anambra South Senatorial District.
There is definitely no viable alternative to Onunkwo among the contestants for the position of Anambra South Senatorial District Senator who possesses similar rich background.
Onunkwo is an avowed member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), apart from supporting the party both in Ihembosi in Ekwusigo LGA and at the state level he has also demonstrated loyalty and support for the administration of Gov. Chukwuma Soludo.
