APC Group Hails Successful, Peaceful Conduct of Ward Congresses In Anambra
Ikemba Front, a support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended the leadership of the party at all levels and party faithful
for the peaceful and credible conduct of the ward delegates’ congress on Saturday .
The Congress was to elect ad-hoc delegates from the 21 Local Government Areas ahead of April 5 primary election to nominate APC candidate for Nov. 8 governorship election in Anambra.
The Saturday ward delegates’ election was observed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and various civil society groups.
Ikemba Front in a Statement made available to newsmen on Sunday said the outcome represented the voting choices of party faithful in Anambra and should not be tampered with.
Chief Arinzechukwu Awogu, the National Coordinator of the group who signed the Statement said the ward Congress election was the most peaceful and rancor free in the history of delegate elections of the party in Anambra.
According to him, this is a sign of hope for the party ahead of the gubernatorial primary election.
“We appeal to party leaders in the state to join hands with the party leadership and tow the path of peace and unity for the party to displace the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state.
“APGA has shown inability to govern Anambra, this is evident in insecurity, underdevelopment and lack of social infrastructure and cohesion among the people.
“I want to plead that the names as produced from the 326 wards were not tampered with because doing so will irretrievably rupture the mood of the party in the state.” he said.
Awogu, a former Ogbaru Local Government Council Chairman commended the National Working Committee, the State Working Committee and all stakeholders for ensuring a free and fair ward delegate election.
He applauded the Chief Basil Ejidike leadership in Anambra for ensuring unity among members and pledged the total commitment of Ikemba Front to the party.
The aspirants include Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, Sir Paul Chukwuma, Chief Chukwuma Umeoji, Chief Johnbosco Onunkwo, Mr Edozie Madu
and Mr. Valentine Ozigbo.
