Arsonists attack INEC office, Police Station, Kill One In Anambra
A yet to be identified armed gang on Wednesday attacked an office of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), a Divisional Police Station and a residential building all in Ojoto, Idemili South LGA of Anambra.
DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, Police Public Relations Officer ( PPRO), Anambra State Police Command confirmed this in a Statement in Awka.
Ikenga said the hoodlums who came in their numbers at about 1:45am had four unmarked Seina vehicles.
He said the attackers used Improvised Explosive Device, petrol bombs and other explosives during the invasion of the INEC office, the Police Station and the residential building in the station.
The PPRO said one person was killed and another injured in the attack.
“Unfortunately, one boy, aged 16 years, a relative of a serving policeman in the station was murdered by the armed men while the other, a female aged 15 years old sustained a gunshot injury.
“She has been taken to the hospital where she is receiving treatment,” he stated.
Ikenga said the situation was being monitored and further details would be communicated.
