Awka Stool: APGA Chieftain Warns ‘Naysayers’ Against Disregarding Constituted Authority
Mr Chinedu Obigwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has advised those opposing the verdict of the Commission of Inquiry which investigated the dispute over the Awka traditional stool to tow the line of common sense and accept peace.

the National coordinator of APGA Media Warriors Forum gave the advice in a Statement entitled “Re Press release Awka Council of Kingmakers Rejects Panel of Inquiry Report On Awka Traditional Kingship ( Eze Uzu)” on Sunday.
Obigwe who described the press release as medicine after death, said it was a handiwork of amorphous cowards who were supporting the desecration of Awka traditional stool.
He said Gov. Chukwuma Soludo a duty to maintain law and order in Anambra and would go any length to ensure it in the State warning that those testing his will were doing so at their own peril.
He said it was sad that some “amorphous group” would support Chief Austin Ndigwe’s naked dance of shame in Awka on baseless grounds.
“Pendency or otherwise of a matter in court does not extinguish the constitutionally guaranteed powers of the governor to ensure security, order and good governance of the state or any part thereof.
“The turmoil generated by the Igweship tussle in Awka is of such proportion that, if allowed to fester, it may degenerate into a precarious situation and no governor worth his salt, will fold his arms and allow that to happen within the state capital.
“Furthermore, the fact that some people are in court where the government or the Governor is not even a party, cannot in any way stop exercise of the constitutional powers of the governor to ensure that there is order and security in the state,” he said.
Obigwe said Soludo was empowered by the law of Anambra to set up a panel of inquiry to look into serious matters of interest capable of leading to crisis of any sort in any part of the state.
He dismissed theargument that only Awka people could entertain chieftaincy tussle in the community wondering why the same people took the same matter to the court which did not belong to the town for determination.
He said the composition of the panel of inquiry which included people from Awka and other areas was a smart measure by Soludo to ensure impartiality, neutrality and independence of the panelists from the issue in question.
“That one is a Christian or a knight of the church does not mean that he is removed from issues relating to tussle and claims of entitlement to Chieftaincy stool by any person.
“Where one has subscribed to arbitration, he cannot legally be found to be complaining about the report of the panel which he considered as unfavorable to him when he participated the arbitration.
“Soludo did marvellously well by taking the bull by the horn to put a stop to the shameful desecration of Awka traditional stool.
“Anambra is in safe hands and the people of the State will continue to give Soludo the needed support to continue his administration’s good work in our state,” he said.
