Bianca Ojukwu Mourns Prof. Nwabueze,
Mrs Bianca Ojukwu, wife of late Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu has described late Prof. Ben Nwabueze as a great nationalist.
Ojukwu said this while reacting to the death of the elder statesman who died on Sunday at the age of 92.
The former Nigerian Ambassador to Spain said the elder statesman had left a vacuum that would be difficult to fill.
She said his death was not just a loss to the Southeast but the entire country.
“This is a tragedy, not just for us here in the Southeast but for Nigeria as a whole, Prof Ben Nwabueze is one of the last of the great titans of Igbo land.
“These titans are going one by one, they are leaving a great vacuum that will be very difficult to fill,” she said.
Ojukwu said Nwabueze was a great mind and legal luminary who laid the earliest foundation of modern Nigeria, constitutional development and legal profession.
“He was very erudite, he was a legal luminary and very critical in setting out the fundamental tenets of our constitution.
Prof. Nwabueze was a great asset to law of jurisprudence, separation of powers and the legal relationship between the states and between the component states and the federal government.
“He enriched the law of jurisprudence very greatly.
“We will miss him and pray that God grant his soul eternal repose,” she said.
