Chidoka Bags Law Degree, Tasks Students On Hard Work
Chief Osita Chidoka, the former minister of aviation, has called students in the country to take their studies seriously and ensure they graduate with good grades.
Chidoka, who spoke after graduating with a second class upper in LLB from Baze University Abuja said he reduced himself to the status of regular full time student in spite occupying exalted political office.
The Corps Marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps said he was happy to have graduated with a good grade after eight tortuous years of academic journey with attendant shocking disappointments.
“It was humbling, but it brought order to my life. After eight years of high-octane service, from FRSC to Aviation, Baze University was therapeutic.
“School was not without distraction. I Left to run for Governor, and came back. Left to manage the Atiku campaign election centre, came back,” he said.
Chidoka said in the 2019 elections activities made him struggled with school work but failed a course, Evidence 1 which was taught by his friend which he identified as Prof. Ojukwu.
He said he refused to be dissuaded as he re-registered the course and lectures, participated in all class assignments and followed the teaching after which he passed well.
According to him, setbacks and failures are part of life, face them squarely.
“Ojukwu to give me make-up midterm tests that I missed. Whenever I approached him, he would cheerfully gist and analyse the elections with me.
“After each discussion, I went away confident he would reconsider. He did not. I went into the exam with 0/30. It was humbling, as I had not experienced examination failure before then. I nearly withdrew.
“At Baze, I got no preferential treatment, and the school enforced rules. I highly recommend the university to aspiring students,” he said.
Chidoka appreciated his wife Chidimma, also a lawyer whom he hopes to partner with in practice as well as his for their unflinching support during the period of his study.
“Chidinma daalu, for all the support and tutorials, I hope your seniority ends at the bar and not near our bedroom.
“To my children, thank you for all the support and be reminded that I will not accept a degree less than a second class upper. If I can do it at old age, you have no excuse,” he said.
