Easter LAJA: Urges More Commitment To Security Of Lives, Property
The League of Anambra Journalists in Abuja (LAJA) has extended warm greetings to Christians in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion Easter which commemorate the resurrection of
Lord Jesus Christ.
LAJA in a Statement signed by Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo and Princess-Ekwi Ajide, its President and Secretary said the event was a profound symbol of sacrifice, victory over death, and the promise of new life.
The journalists said Easter was not just a celebration; but a powerful reminder that light would always triumph over darkness and that hope could rise even in the face of despair.
He said Nigeria was presently grappling with economic hardship, social uncertainty, and a troubling rise in insecurity but the message of Easter spoke more urgently than ever.
“We call on Nigerians to draw strength from the essence of this season, renewing faith in God, embracing unity, and fostering compassion for one another.
“Let this period inspire us to rise above division, lend a helping hand to the vulnerable, and commit ourselves to building a more just and peaceful society.
“However, as we celebrate, we must also speak truth to power,” it said.
The League expressed deep concern over the insecurity across the country which has continued to threaten lives and livelihoods adding no nation can thrive where fear prevails.
It said the safety and welfare of citizens must remain paramount and that beyond words, the situation needed decisive, sustained, and transparent actions that would restore confidence and guarantee security.
“We therefore urge all tiers of government to rise to their constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property.
Easter reminds us that after suffering comes restoration, and after darkness, light. We encourage citizens not to lose hope but to remain resilient, law-abiding, and united in the collective pursuit of a better Nigeria.
“As we celebrate this sacred season, may the resurrection of Christ bring healing to our land, peace to our communities, and renewed hope to every Nigerian,” it said.
