EFCC: I Have Not Received Letter, Made Any Statement On Invitation – Obi
Mr. Peter Obi, the Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2019 election, says he has not made any statement either personally or through anybody in reaction to the invitation to him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Obi said this in a Statement signed by Mr Valentine Obienyem, his Media aide and made available to journalists in Awka on Monday.
The former Anambra governor was invited by the anti graft body in relation to the Pandora Paper investigations as published by Premium Times.
Obi said the comment circulating on different media platforms was not from him and should be disregarded.
NewsMonitor reports the statement quoted Obi as requesting the EFCC to make their investigations public, among other out-of-character remarks.
According to the fake statement, I have been invited by EFCC to come and defend myself on Pandora papers.
“I encourage the EFCC to make the investigation public so that the public will witness the investigation.
“I will educate EFCC to know that the way I spend my money is totally my choice,” it said.
But the technocrat and politician said he was yet to receive the letter of invitation from EFCC and could not have reacted.
“From what is circulating, the letter appears to have been sent to an office he is no longer part of and is yet to reach him.”
“However, being a law-abiding Nigerian will honour all legitimate invitations from government agencies at all times,” he said.
