Eid El Fitr: Ezeonwuka Preaches Peace, Unity Above Religion

Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, an ecumenical religionist, has called on Nigerians of all religious shades to embrace love and unity.

Ezeonwuka said this while having a Ramadan break fast meeting with Muslim community in Oba, near Onitsha Anambra State on Monday.

The spiritual Leader of Igbo Nation prayed for a sustainable peace and unity across the country, adding that humans are all one and equal before God.

He said Nigerians must cultivate the attitude of love and respect towards each other irrespective of their religious affiliation.

According to him, we should not allow religion to divide the country, instead  it should help our quest for national development and general wellbeing.

“At the point of death, we will not be judged by our religious beliefs, but by our deeds while on earth.

“When the soul departs the physical body and journeys into the spiritual world, what counts is our character towards ourselves and others while we lived on earth only.

“Hate, anger, fighting and killing each other on the basis of religion is wrong and must be condemned by men of goodwill,” he said.

Ezeonwuka congratulated the Nigerian Muslim community for succesful completion of the 30-day Ramadan fast and as they join Muslims all over the world to celebrate Eid El Fitr.

He said Ramadan was a rich spiritual exercise and was an opportunity to seek forgiveness for every sin.

“In order to build a nation where peace and justice shall reign, we must first of all admit that we all are one, and that no tribe or religion is superior or inferior to the other.

“Every human being is equal, therefore it is selfish for a true Muslim to discriminate on the basis of  religion or ethnicity, we should do good  and be benevolent to everyone,” he said.
