Eight escape death in Anambra ghastly crash
No fewer than eight persons cheated death when a commuter bus collided with a commercial motorcycle on Igboukwu-Uga expressway in Aguata Council Area of Anambra state on Friday night.
The accident which involved a Volks Wagon Transporter with registration number HAL-450-XA belong to TRACAS and an unmarked Honda Cub Motorcycle left an unidentified man with serious injuries .
An eye witness said the bus which was moving towards Awka at high speed hit the motorcycle and almost ran over him.
Andrew Kumakpayi, Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Commission(FRSC) in Anambra who confirmed the crash said none of the five male and three female adults involved was lost.
Kumapayi said the crash was caused by dangerous driving and speeding.
He said the injured man had been rescued and rushed to hospital for treatment by FRSC rescue team from Igboukwu Unit Command while the vehicle and motorcycle were taken to the FRSC Igboukwu Unit Command.
He warned drivers against driving dangerously and urged motorists to be tolerant of one another on the road and drive defensively at all times, to avoid unnecessary road mishaps.
