Enekwe, LP Chieftain Urges Nigerians To Vote Without Fear
Chief Okey Enekwe, a chieftain of the Labour Party in Anambra, has called on the electorate to go out and vote for candidates that will give them the leadership they desire without fear.
Enekwe who spoke to journalists in Awka said participating in election was an inalienable civic duty as it was the only way they could choose who led them in a democracy.
He condemned what he described as attacks on supporters of Labour Party saying it was undemocratic and primitive.
“As the country goes into governorship and State Houses of Assembly election, I want to encourage Nigerians irrespective of their political leaning to go out and vote for their preferred candidates.
“More importantly, I want to call members of the Labour Party, the ‘OBIdient’ movement, to vote for our candidates across the country just the way they did in the Feb. 25 presidential and national assembly election,” he said.
Enekwe urged Anambra voters to disregard any form of threat but vote according to their consciences.
He said Labour Party had fielded eminently qualified candidates for the 30 seats in the Anambra House of Assembly while calling on Anambra people to return them as lawmakers to enrich democracy in the state.
“The candidates are all Anambra people, they are equally qualified, so no need to threaten anybody; the people should be allowed to freely vote for their choices.
“Nobody is causing trouble anywhere, nobody is impeaching anybody, all the people want is richer democratic participation and better governance delivery,” he said.
