Football: Anambra Independent League Strips Udala FC Of Season 4 League Title
The Anambra Independent Football League (AIFL) has stripped Udala FC of Uke of its title of AIFL season 4 league champions over non payment of participation fee.
The decision was reached at the AIFL general council meeting and contained in a communiqué made public on Wednesday.
The communiqué was signed Rev. Fr Coach Obinna Dike, chairman of AIFL.
AIFL is an amateur football league in Anambra, organised and managed by private football technocrats.
Recall that Udala won the AIFL Super 4 ahead of DOSAD FA, Rangel FC and Ozalla FC to emerge winners of the league for a consecutive third time and cart the trophy home for keeps.
Dynamic FC, Aguluzigbo which did not pay the registration fee was also withdrawn from the concluded season meaning that both clubs were deemed not to have participated in the Season 4 of the AIFL.
The resolution therefore upgraded other clubs to the next step up the ladder.
“The council after a tough and comprehensive deliberation have withdrawn Udala FC and Dynamic FC for non-payment of registration fee for season 4.
“It also added that for the two teams to be eligible to play for the Season 5 they will have to pay in full the registration fees for both Season 4 and 5.
“Based on Udala FC and Dynamic SC withdrawals and owing to the outcome of the AIFL Season 4 playoffs. DOSAD FC have emerged champions of the Season 4, followed by Rangels FC on second spot and Ozala FC finishing third,” it stated.
It said all clubs willing to take part in AIFL season 5 due for kickoff on Dec.4 have until Nov. 20 to formalise all registration processes.
AIFL also constituted an independent panel of inquiry to look into what happened during the finals of season 4 which had squabbles with a view to applying appropriate sanctions against both sets of players.
“The council also adopted Nov. 20, 2020, as the deadline for submission of data by teams for licensing, it also agreed that up to 50 players can be registered for the new season,” it stated.
