Gunmen Abduct Bizman, Shot Only Son In Ukpor, Anambra
Mr Chukwujekwu Uzozie, a businessman and a farmer based in Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra has been abducted by yet to be identified persons.
Uzozie’s only don was said to have shot by the assailants who stormed his home in Umudiji Umuohama village, Ukpor on Saturday morning and shot into the air severally before forcing themselves into his compound.
A family source who pleaded anonymity said Uzozie was taken to an unknown destination and no contact had been made while the son who was badly wounded was rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
The source said the victim was s Special Adviser to a former chairman of Nnewi South Local Government Council and a parishioner at St Andrew’s Church Umuohama Ukpor.
A source who pleaded for anonymity said that the incident happened around 12 midnight, noting that the rampaging gunmen shot their way into the compound.
The source said members of St Andrew’s Church Umuoham have organised special prayers for the release of Hon Chukwujekwu and quick recovery of his only son.
“Hon. Uzozie Chukwujekwu, a member of St Andrew’s Church Umuohama Ukpor who was abducted from his house this evening.
“His only son was shot and has been taken to hospital.
“He is from Umudiji Umuohama village Ukpor and my Bosom friend and Special Adviser to the Chairman of Nnewi South LGA,” it said.
DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra confirmed the incident.
Ikenga said a rescue operation had been launched with the purpose of freeing Uzozie.
He said” the command has embark on rescue operation for one Uzozie Chukwujekwu from Umudiji, Nnewi South LGA.
“Preliminary information, reveals that the abductors in the early hours of today May 21, invaded the house of the victim and took him away.
