Igbo Elders Council Congratulates Azuta-Mbata, Tasks Ohanaeze On Unity
The United Igbo Elders Council (UNIEC) has extended its warm congratulations to Sen. John Azuta-Mbata on his election as President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex socio-cultural organisation.
UNIEC in a letter signed by its Director General, His Lordship, Justice Ikpeama, the council lauded Sen. Azuta-Mbata leadership capacity and commitment to the collective interests of Igbo people.
The group expressed confidence that his tenure would mark a new chapter of unity, progress, and strategic engagement for the Igbo people both at home and in the diaspora.
The council emphasised the urgent need for unity among Igbo, urging the newly elected President General to prioritise reconciliation and bridge existing gaps across various Igbo communities and leadership structures.
The elders also tasked him with fostering stronger collaboration with Southeast and Southsouth governors to ensure the adequate provision of security and economic development within the region.
UNIEC further noted that in this era of heightened national and global challenges, Igbo leadership must rise to the occasion by championing policies which promote business growth, technological advancement, and infrastructure development in Igboland.
“While wishing Senator John Azuta-Mbata a successful tenure, UNIEC pledges its unwavering support in ensuring that his leadership achieves its mandate of protecting Igbo heritage, strengthening inter-ethnic relations, and fostering prosperity for Igbo across the globe,” it said.
