Igbo Language Spelling Bee Competition Set To Premier In Anambra
The first Igbo spelling competition themed “Oka Nsupe Igbo” has been scheduled to hold in Onitsha, Anambra on May 13 and May 14 this year.
Mr Chinedu Aniagboso, the Project Manager of the competition who spoke to Journalists in Awka on Tuesday said Igbo language spelling bee would be the first in Nigeria.
Aniagboso said the project was an initiative of Onitsha Business School and was geared towards deepening the knowledge of language among youths.
He said the Hausa and Yoruba version of the competition would be held later in the year.
“This competition which will be the first in Nigeria is designed for Junior and Senior secondary school students across Nigeria.
“Oka Nsupe Igbo is the Igbo version of City Speller Bee, an initiative of Onitsha Business school which was created to promote the wide adoption of Igbo language amongst the younger generation.
“The Yoruba, Hausa and English version will take place later in the year,” he said.
Aniagboso said the competition was part of a series of projects by Onitsha Business School to discover young talents while creating an atmosphere for the development of literary non-curricular activities among young people.
