Igbokwe Carpets Anambra FA Over ‘Clueless’ Onwa D’Zemba Novelty Match
Ikechukwu Igbokwe, a football administrator has described the Anambra State Football Association, under Chikelue Iloenyosi as clueless and rudderless in terms of management and development of the round leather game
Igbokwe, a former general secretary of defunct Gabros United who disclosed this in on Wednesday said the Ex Rangers and Anambra All Stars football match organised by the Anambra was a sheer demonstration of cluelessness and visionlessness.
In his third open letter later to Gov. Chukwuma Soludo, the lawyer and publisher of Sliding Tackle, an online column, said the ‘Onwa December’ Novelty Football Match which was a pairing of old men was a misplaced priority when youth football was dead.
The 62 years old administrator said though he had no grouse about efforts of old men to keep fit, it was important to highlight the fact that grassroots football in Anambra was almost dead under the ‘clueless and directionless crude leadership Chikelue IloenyosI led FA.
He accused Iloenyos of sacking the Anambra State Local Football Councils (LFCS), who were Incharge of our football development at the Local Government level for over one year who outside known football laws,
“It is tragic that while Anambra youths who owned football are battling for dear life in the emergency ward, His Excellency was deceived into wasting scarce funds in a novelty ceremonial match involving old and expired men.
“ It is a serious misplacement of priority that while our youths are desperately lacking government attention in the football sector and huge millions of naira is wasted on a novelty ceremonial football match that is not beneficial to the state.
The amount of attention and funds devoted to the ‘Onwa December’ novelty football match should have been rightly directed on youths who are our future in football.
“Your Excellency, your government had no business funding the ‘Onwa December’ novelty football match for any reason,” he said.
Igbokwe called on Soludo to channel state funds to development of sports and football at the grassroots level which had been abandoned instead of sponsoring novelty football matches for old men.
