Isiah Benjamin Elected SWAN President
Isiah Benjamin, a former Chairman of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in Kaduna State Has been elected the new national president of the body.
Benjamin defeated his sole rivals Abubarka Saddiq from Taraba by 15-6 votes in the election held at the Triennial Delegate Congress in Omoku, near Port Harcourt in Rivers State on Thursday.
He succeeded Honour Sirawo who served out term tenures of six years.
In another contested position, Bonny Young, a former Vice President of South South Zone of the association defeated Gabriel Nwanetanya of Rivers State Chapter by 11-9 votes to emerge the new national deputy president.
Other officers who emerged unopposed are Ikenna Okonkwo, the immediate past secretary of Abuja, General Secretary; Azuka Chiemeke, Vice President of South South; Ijeoma Nwante, Financial Secretary.
Others were Ayodeji Ogunsakin, Vice President and Austin Ajayi, Welfare Officer.
