Iwuanyanwu Urges Peace Ahead Of Anambra Guber Poll
Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, an elder statesman and Chairman Ohanaeze Ndigbo Council of Elders has made a passionate appeal to the people of Anambra state to allow the Nov. 6, Governorship election to hold peacefully.
Chief Iwuanyanwu said this in Awka noting that if the election was disrupted, the people of Anambra and indeed the Southeast will be the losers.
He said that the success of the election was very vital and crucial to the people of Anambra and the region.
He observed that Anambra was a cradle of development and achievements in education, politics, industry, commerce and religion, pointing out that Onitsha was the first port of call in 1857 when the white missionaries came to Igboland.
The industrialist said that Anambra was home to great men including Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Excellency Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, Chief Emeka Anyaokwu, Prof. Chike Obi, Prof. Kenneth Dike who was important in national and international history.
He listed others as Chief Innocent Maduka, Saint Blessed Michael Iweme Tansi among others as heroes who left legacies that showcased Igbos as great people urging that the present generation should not destroy the legacies.
Ahaejiagamba Ndigbo as he popularly appealed to the youth in Anambra not to shed blood of innocent citizens who will turn out to vote.
“We all owe it a duty to our forebears and posterity to avoid any action that could cause blood shed in Anambra state or any part of Igboland or even in Nigeria,” he said.
