Monimichelle Construction Warns Against Unauthorised Use Of Biodegradable Coconut-Fiber
Monimichelle Ltd, a foremost sports facility construction company says the company is the is the sole and lawful owner of a registered patent
of biodegradable infill technology produced from crushed coconut fibers.
Ebi Egbe, Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer of Monimichelle ltd said this in a statement personally used by him and made available to journalists on Tuesday.
Egbe warned all installers, suppliers, distributors, contractors, and agents involved in the manufacture, importation, supply, distribution,
installation, marketing, or use of football turf and artificial grass systems in Nigeria against unauthorised use of the brand.
He said the patent covered all biodegradable products, compounds, blends, and derivatives originating from coconut fibers for
football turf and artificial grass applications within Nigeria.
He said rebranding, reformulation, or minor modification does not exempt any product or activity from infringement.
According to him, the protected invention include crushed, shredded, powdered, granulated, or processed coconut fiber infill, coconut coir–based performance infill materials and blended or modified coconut-fiber biodegradable infill
“Others are any coconut-fiber-derived material marketed or used as turf infill, performance infill,
or environmental infill for football pitches,” he said.
Egbe said nobody or firm should without prior written authorisation from Monimichelle engage in manufacturing or processing coconut-fiber-based turf infill, importation or supply of the patented materials as it would amount to infringement.
He said any entity or individual found engaging in the above activities would be liable under applicable Nigerian
patent and intellectual property laws.
The Monimichelle boss said the consequences include immediate cease, civil litigation for damages, profits, and injunctive relief, seizure of infringing materials and claims for costs, legal fees, and reputational damage.
He advised all installers, suppliers, and contractors to immediately cease any unauthorised activity involving coconut
biodegradable turf infill to stop and conduct due diligence on product sources and intellectual property status.
