My Opponents Announced My Disqualification With Town Criers…Umeh
Sen. Victor Umeh, candidate of the Labour Party for Anambra Central Senatorial District in Anambra has said that he is confident that his disqualification from the Feb. 25 election by a Federal High Court sitting in Awka will not stand.
Umeh who spoke at St Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on the occasion of the feast of their founder’s day told his supporters not to be jittery as he was still much in the race.
He said he had appealed the disqualification and was confident that based on the plethora of judgement on similar matters, it would be upturned and returned to the contest.
Recall that Ekwunife and PDP had gone to the Federal High Court, Awka, to contest the validity of Umeh’s nomination in the Labour Party
Umeh said the Judgement which stopped him from contesting, forbade him from campaigning, sought the removal of his name and that of Labour Party logo from the ballot paper as well as slammed N2 million fine on him was done to satisfy some persons.
“As you are aware now, there is a judgement of Federal High Court which disqualified me from the race, I want to assure you that it will not stand, I have appealed against it and i am still in the race.
“Opposition announcement my disqualification with town criers, telling people that Senator Victor Umeh is no longer in the race, that is not true, un few days time, it again be upturned because there are so many judgment against similar cases.
“Anybody in a particular party does not have business with internal affairs of another party,” he said.
Umeh called on on Anambra Central Senatorial District and entire Anambra electorate to vote Labour Party in all the contested political positions.
He said he was a strong voice of the masses who had done it in the past and would do better when he returned to the Red Chambers.
