NAUTH’s CMD Raises Alarm Over Fake Facebook Account
Prof Joseph Ugboaja, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital NAUTH Nnewi Anambra, has warned members of the public to be wary of a fraudulent Facebook account in his name .
Mrs Chinyere Onwuka, Head, Corporate Affairs Department of NAUTH who issued the disclaimer in a Statement on Tuesday said the fake Facebook account was a handiwork of fraudsters.
Onwuka said the fake Facebook account was designed with the aim to scam members of the public with the name of the CMD.
“The attention of the Chief Medical Director of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi has once again been drawn to certain fraudster on Facebook claiming to be ‘Dr. Ugbaja Joseph’, the CMD of NAUTH, Nnewi.
“They are chatting people up privately on Facebook messenger and WhatsApp, soliciting for jobs, procurement and other fraudulent requests.
“The Chief Medical Director wishes to state unequivocally once again and for the avoidance of doubt that the said Facebook profile/account is fake and does not belong to him,” she stated.
Omwuka said that a disclaimer had earlier been put out before in a national daily over the same matter and that the activity of the fraudulent person has been reported to the appropriate authorities.
“Members of the public who choose to deal with this fraudulent individual parading himself as the CMD, NAUTH are doing so at their own risk.
“Neither the CMD nor the management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, shall be held liable for any loss suffered by them in dealing with this fraudster,” she said.
