*MY CONTRACT WITH APGA IN ANAMBRA STATE AS I SEEK TO WORK AS THE NEXT STATE CHAIRMAN.*
_*By Nchekwube Anthony Dunga (Ezesinachi Amansea)*_
*INTRODUCTION:*
With every sense of humility and gratitude to God, I offer myself as a vehicle for selfless and focused leadership to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), where party activities would be steered in an intelligent and innovative manner that ensure political stability in alliance with Mr Governor’s quest for a liveable and prosperous homeland in Anambra State. It is a vision borne out of my passion to see APGA rise to the highest level of political success centered on the people as the most important piece of the puzzle.
I have grown through the ranks in the party having join APGA on December 2nd, 2002. Currently, as the State Auditor General of APGA, I have contributed immensely to the party in different capacities and on several assignments. The most recent assignment was my appointment as the Chairman of the State Disciplinary Committee for Anti-party Activities in the 2023 General Election. With all these experiences under my belt, I have thought through the challenges facing our great party and the disruptive changes needed to lead our party out of its quagmire. I am committed to working tirelessly to achieve the desired results for our great party.
At this stage of my political life, full of energy, vigor and excellent health, coupled with solid years of experience as a party man I believe I’m best positioned to take APGA to her next level of greatness as the next State Chairman of the party in Anambra State. If by God’s grace I am engaged through your support as the State Chairman, I will devote every minute of my time to work and mobilize all vital stakeholders to make APGA the stronghold of politics of development and a formidable fortress for most political aspirants in Anambra State. I will hit the ground running from Day One!
What I present here is just an overview of my manifesto, emanating from a firm belief that despite the defects currently experienced in the APGA system there’s still sufficient room to fully demonstrate our plans and achieve our set objectives. The manifesto is designed to give Ndi APGA and Mr Governor a feel of our bold, optimistic and ambitious plans for the future of APGA in Anambra State. Our aim is to be intelligent and smart in our approach to party’s growth and political participation in Anambra.
The Igbos as a nascent global tribe need APGA as a political vehicle to maximize their economic potential and develop our area to an enviable height. APGA has come to stay to impact the lives of Ndi Anambra. My job is to deliver on projects that impact the people from a political standpoint. My team and I would be thinking through all the political situations across the state and secure winning opportunities for our great party at all times.
If elected as APGA chairman in the state, I admit that I don’t know it all. We would be needing advice and guidance of everyone. We would also network and seek strategic collaboration where necessary so as to chart the future of our great party.
Finally, I am committed to a first-rate implementation of my plan. I wouldn’t hesitate to effect fundamental positive transformation and I will hit the ground running from Day One. What I listed below is an overview, designed to give the party members a feel of what the future holds if they support my candidacy. Our program is the people’s agenda and it’s entirely about taking our party to its deserved next level of growth and expansion.
*MY AGENDA.*
An agendum begins with a sound analysis of the challenges we need to overcome and the opportunities for doing so. My plan is based on a deep knowledge of the challenges and a realistic assessment of what we can achieve in the APGA State secretariat, especially in the context of the dire condition we found ourselves. The Plan is carefully thought through considering the uprising effect of Labour Party and “Obidient” Movement. We will aggressively apply ourselves to work and mobilize the required resources. My word is my bond: my team and I will exceed the target with more flagship projects as time goes on.
*1. PARTY SUPREMACY IS SACROSANCT AND INVIOLABLE:*
My message is loud and clear: that I believe in the supremacy of party and the importance of being a loyal party man. I am in agreement with the fact that party decisions supercede personal interest of party members irrespective of who is involved or how highly placed they are. I would champion programs that promotes party’s supremacy. Nonetheless, we shouldn’t be afraid to dream big and aim high for our dear party. Together, we are a bunch of loyal party men and women in a strong party that we’re all proud to call our own as always.
*2. ONE FAMILY, ONE APGA FLAG INITIATIVE:*
This is a grassroot program that aims to plant one flag in every home in Anambra and every flag must have a holder which implies that every family must have an APGA flag-holder in it. A workshop would be organized to that effect to equip the 326 Ward Excos in Anambra to carry out the assignment with an intensive grassroots approach.
*3. POLITICAL STABILITY:*
One of my top priorities is to ensure Political Stability within APGA fold to enable Mr Governor execute smoothly his economic agenda within the deadline. We would setup an effective dispute-resolution mechanism in place to pacify foreseeable aggrieved members of our party and provide means of accommodating everyone because APGA belongs to all of us. APGA has come to stay and impact the lives of Ndi Anambra. A stronger, bigger, and better APGA is what I promise to build.
*4. REFORMING THE INTERNAL PARTY MECHANISM TO HOLD MONTHLY WARD MEETINGS:*
We will initiate monthly ward meeting for effective, efficient and robust party engagements. It will accord us the opportunity to eliminate potential bottlenecks in the way the party relate with the members and avoid awkward transitions, disruptions, or indications of discrepancy.
*5. WOMEN EMPOWERMENT:*
Women’s Empowerment is a top priority for me. My plan is to continue to encourage more participation of women in politics within my area of influence from ward levels to the state level. For years now, I have been an advocate of gender parity in political affairs. Our team will make deliberate efforts in all the party programs to ensure that women are well represented to reflect our gender balance compliance. We’ll ensure zero tolerance for all intimidation, sexual harassment, or any other harmful practices against women in our great party APGA. Women empowerment is not a token: it would be mainstreamed at all levels of our party. Women are equal partners in the political process and must be recognized and treated as such. My leadership will take deliberate steps to eliminate all forms of discrimination.
*6. INITIATING REWARD MECHANISM IN THE PARTY:*
Initiating Reward Mechanism is fundamental as the way to recompense the consistency and steadfastness of our party members, especially after an excellent delivery of special tasks, or after tedious jobs like general elections, primary elections, LGA party tours, and political summits, seminars, ward events, etc.
*7. EMBARK ON MASSIVE PARTY MEMBERSHIP DRIVE:*
I hope to launch a massive party membership drive across the 326 wards in Anambra State. People would be encouraged to register as members of our great party APGA in their various wards across the state. We will strive and penetrate the inactive voters’ demography, especially those who turned 18 yrs and others who ain’t politically curious and get them activated into our party activities. Our strategic plan positions the people as the most important piece of the puzzle and that’s what my team and I intend to embark on within the first three months after the inauguration. I will hit the ground running from day one!
*8. PROMOTE STAKE-HOLDING KIND OF POLITICKING IN OUR PARTY:*
We’ll drive the initiative where party members, APGA faithful, and APGA sympathizers would approach politics with a mindset of “contributing” to the cause rather than “receiving” as their first line of engagement with APGA candidates. It enables party members to own up party projects as theirs having invested in their scarce resources into the project.
*9. PROMOTE ECONOMIC GROWTH OF APGA MEMBERS THROUGH COOPERATIVE SOCIETIES INITIATIVES:*
I aim to apply my experience as a trained Community Facilitator of the successful FADAMA III Project in the State, towards galvanizing at least 60 APGA members per polling unit, who votes in the 5,720 polling units of Anambra State. My goal is to cluster them as Cooperative Societies with business projects that will improve their standard of living. As value addition is our central focus and with such a high-level economic impact, our great party APGA will up their winning margin in Anambra State with at least over 343,000 votes ahead. The essence of a political party is to win elections and we’ll explore every avenue to get the people on our side.
*10. CREATE APGA INFORMATION DESK:*
Under my watch, the State Working Committee will set up the APGA INFORMATION DESK to maximize our feedback channel with the party members at the grassroots through designated phone numbers that would be shared with party members across Anambra State. This will enable all Ndi APGA to easily reach out to the State Secretariat for any political development in their various wards or on issues affecting them. All the verified feedback from the people would guide us in taking decisive actions from an informed standpoint.
*11. BUILD SMART LEGAL ADVISORY AND DISCIPLINARY UNIT:*
I aim to appoint a smart Legal Advisory and Disciplinary Unit to ensure that appropriate correctional measures are established in our party. The competent legal unit would be an integral part of my undertakings to shine light on dark areas of our political engagements and help to avert litigation pitfalls against the party by other political parties. On the other hand, party members should take responsibility for their actions and inactions. Hence all actions must have consequences. This unit would be well positioned to lawfully discipline offenders where necessary. Furthermore, they would explore lopeholes in our political ecosystem and pursue odds that favour our great party whenever and wherever possible.
*CONCLUSION:*
The key thing here is the people. It’s about how we can attract the best of the best people to our great party and commit them to the tenets and ideologies of the party which translates to winning elections for our party. People who can believe in the vision and mission of our leadership to deliver on our mandate in a cheap and cheerful way.
As a result-oriented leadership, we’ll adopt stringent selection criteria by my excos for everyone who’s going to be selected as members of committees or teams for project execution or special assignment for the party. Achieving results would be the cardinal principle of my leadership to ensure political profitability always for the party.
We must always sieve the opportunities that we embark on and ensure that it keeps the party on firm footing in voting strength and threshold limit that drives how we embark on political projects.
As elected State Chairman of APGA, I will be coming in with a sense of duty. I will be Chairman for all Ndi APGA and this will be demonstrated by the spread of my engagements across the state, coupled with the speed of execution of my plans to hit the ground running effectively.
Umunnem Ndi APGA, let’s keep up with this momentum and work with me in making my vision a reality as the next Chairman of APGA in Anambra State. Support the mandate you can trust, Support Dunga! Together, we can achieve greatness.
I strongly believe in APGA and our members’ ability to work together with me to create the future we all want for APGA in Anambra State.
Finally, I am not saying you should elect me as your Leader, no! All I am appealing is for you to employ me as the State Chairman of APGA in Anambra State. I will not fail in the confidence and trust bestowed upon me as a true party man.
So help me God!
