NGO, Group Challenge Federal University Gusau’s Allegations Against Odoh
YOHESOR-NGO and Concerned Members of Academia (CMA) Southeast have expressed their support Prof. Bernard Odoh, the embattled vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
The groups in a Statement signed by Dr Cyril Okorocha and Dr Emeka Ezeh challenged the position of the Federal University of Gusau (FUG) regarding Odoh’s employment and professorial status.
The groups claimed to have done a thorough independent investigation, supported Odoh’s appointment and subsequent activities at the university saying they had uncovered “irrefutable evidence and documents” backing the legitimacy of Odoh’s appointment, promotion, and academic activities.
The NGOs said Odoh was lawfully employed in the Department of Geological Sciences, duly promoted to the rank of a professor following evaluations by external assessors.
“This issue transcends Prof. Odoh, It is about preserving the sanctity of our educational system.
“We are ready to support Prof. Odoh in pursuing legal action to defend his academic reputation,” it said.
Recall that Odoh was ousted last week by the presidency after three weeks in office following allegations of irregularities in the selection process and inconsistency in qualifications.
