No Cause For Alarm Over Shootings—OkoPoly Official
The Management of Federal Polytechnic Oko in Community, Orumba North Local Government Area has said the campus is calm and academic activities are going on normally.
Mr Chijioke Ibeziako, the Public Relations Officer of the institution said this in Friday while reacting to the Thursday night shooting which claimed the lives of two and left four injured.
Ibeziako in a Statement said internal security was at alert and safety of those within the school was guaranteed.
He dismissed the attempt to link the Polytechnic with the incident which happened outside the academic community noting that investigation was ongoing to establish if any student or staff was affected in the attack.
Recall that some yet to be unidentified assailants struck around Total Junction and Tipper junction both in Oko at about 8.40pm, June 19 and shot indiscriminately.
Police Command in Anambra said the scene of incident had been taken over by a joint team of Army, Navy, Civil Defence and Vigilante Operatives to restore calm
SP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed that two persons were killed and two others abducted while four persons including a lady who sustained injuries were receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
Ikenga said the attackers operated on motorcycles and SUV.
He said Police were gathering intelligence and investigating the incident with assistance from eyewitnesses at the scene.
