NOC Condoles Kano Government,, NSC, Ogun Government over Tragic Loss of Kano Athletes
It is with a heavy heart that the President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Engr Habu Gumel and members of the Olympic family in Nigeria extend their deepest condolences over the death of no fewer than 20 Kano athletes to the last National Sports Festival.
These athletes from Kano tragically lost their lives in a motor accident about 50 kilometres from Kano.
At this trying moment, the NOC Condoles with the government of Kano, its Sports Commission, the National Sports Commission and the Ogun State Government.
A statement released by the committee’s Public Relations Officer, Tony Nezianya, notes that the accident occurred after the team departed from the 22nd National Sports Festival in Abeokuta.
The loss of these remarkable individuals, who were not only talented athletes but also champions and role models, is a profound tragedy that has shaken our sporting community.
Among the deceased are those who proudly represented their state and brought home medals alongside their devoted coaches and supportive administrative officials.
Their dedication, hard work, and passion for sports have inspired many, and their absence will be deeply felt in the hearts of all who knew them.
