NSCDC Debunks Viral Video Of Attack On Personnel In Anambra
The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has dismissed a viral video purporting that its operatives on duty were attacked by unidentified gun wielding people in Umueri, Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra.
The group which called itself ‘Motherland Warriors’ was seen allegedly targeting NSCDC personnel and burning their operational vehicle on Monday.
Anambra Command of NSCDC in a Statement signed by Mr Edwin Okadigbo a Deputy Superintendent of Corps and Command Public Relations Officer said there was no truth in the viral video.
It said the video was being circulated by crisis merchants and mischief makers, noting that Anambra was peaceful and calm.
“The attention of the NSCDC, Anambra State Command has been drawn to a video circulation in social media insinuating that Civil Defence officers and vehicle were attacked on Aug. 30 at Nenyi Umueri.
“We wish to state that there is no iota of truth in the video in circulation . All NSCDC facilities in Anambra State are safe and calm.
“In addition, all operational vehicles in the State deployed for an assignment are without any untoward incident today.
“This is purely the handwork of crisis
merchants and mischief makers who want to create panic and fear in the minds of Anambra people and residents alike.
“The Command with other sister security agencies are working in synergy to ensure that the security situation in Anambra is intact,” he said.
The NSCDC appreciated the collaboration and support of the masses for its activities and appealed that every information about it should be confirmed before being circulated to avoid misleading the public.
“The Anambra State Commandant , Mr Vincent Ogu wishes to appreciate Gov. Willie Obiano, the good people of Anambra and other sister security agencies for their support and collaboration towards enhancing the security architecture of the state.
“He assures that safe custody of Officers and Men and Operational vehicles in the Command will continue to be his priority,” it stated.
