Nweke, AA Candidate Accepts Verdict, Urges Soludo To Tackle Hunger
Chief Jeff Nweke, candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) party in the Nov. 8 governorship election has called on Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to address unemployment and hunger in his second term.
Nweke who said this at his post-election news conference in Awka on Monday congratulated Soludo on his victory
He said the election though keenly contested was one of the most efficient and freest in the state’s history.
He said the election went well and commended the smooth conduct of the election adding that Anambra people have spoken and so it is.
Nweke commended Soludo for extending hands of fellowship to other co-contestants and promised to work with him for better Anambra.
He urged rivals to accept the verdict of the masses and jettison the idea of going to court.
The AA candidate said he heard the reports of vote buying in some areas but did not witness it in his polling unit while regretting the unfortunate incident that led to the killing of a councillor in Orumba South Local Area.
“I appreciate the people of Anambra for coming out en masse to express their electoral choices.
“This election exposed the fact that we have come of age because there was no intimidation, molestation or suppression.
“I, Ozo Jeff Nweke, accept the outcome of this election and I have sent my congratulatory message to the winner, Gov. Chukwuma Soludo.
“Our people have shown that they want him to continue, so I call on him to run an inclusive government which in his speech, he has expressed readiness to do,” he said.
Nweke called on Soludo to use his second term to tackle the challenges of unemployment and poverty as a means of addressing insecurity.
He said “ the bedrock of our problem in Anambra is hunger which is as a result of unemployment, so I call on the governor to create jobs and tackle poverty and other problems will be taken care of”.
