NYG: Anambra beat Kano 2-1 In Female Volleyball
The Anambra female Volleyball team started their campaign with a 2-1 win over their Kano counterparts on the Day-1 of the volleyball event at the ongoing National Youth Games in Delta State.
The Anambra girls secured the hard fought victory in the game played at the Igwashi Ukwu township Stadium on Sunday.
The team will have a busy day on Monday as they face foes from Lagos and Delta States in their second and third matches at the games.
Victory in these games will earn the a spot in semi final stage of the competition.
In the male category, Anambra will commence hostilities with matches against Adamawa and Akwa Ibom states.
Ndudi Ijomah, coach if Anambra Volleyball team described match as as keenly contested.
Ijomah said the victory was a good one and a morale boosters noting that while Day-2 would be a tight schedule, he was hopeful of making it to the semis
Other matches in the Day 2 of the volleyball event are Bayelsa vs Bauchi, Kano vs Delta, Oyo vs Kaduna, Oyo vs Bauchi, Lagos vs Kano and Kaduna vs Bayelsa
For the male, Sokoto vs Kaduna, Delta vs Bayelsa, Lagos vs Oyo, Lagos vs Bayelsa and Delta vs Oyo.
