NYSC Inducts 1,538 Corps Members For Orientation Course In Anambra
The National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) on Tuesday swore in 1,538 corps members comprising 740 males and 798 females for the 2022 Batch A Stream 1 orientation course in Anambra State.
They were sworn in at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, in Awka South Local Government
Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa, the Coordinator of NYSC in Anambra said all the Corps Members and officials on camp were confirmed fit for the exercise, as well as kitted and accommodated in line with COVID-19 protocols.
The Coordinator, who represented Maj. Gen. Shaibu Ibrahim, the Director General of the scheme urged the inductees to maintain the cardinal objectives of the NYSC which centered on promotion of national unity and integration.
“The scheme was designed to equip you for the tasks of the service year through lessons on the cardinal programmes, leadership coaching, paramilitary drills and other physical training and sensitisation national issues.
“It is also a platform for kick-starting various activities that will enable you to realise your potential and attain individual feats both within and beyond the period of service.
“I therefore, enjoin you to avail yourselves of this once-in-life-time opportunity by participating actively in all the Camp activities,”‘ she said.
Baderinwa commended the House of Representatives for the progress made so far in the legislative processes on the Bill for the establishment of the NYSC Trust Fund.
She also thanked the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), for their continued support towards safe conduct of the Orientation Course within the context of the “new normal”.
The swearing in rite was performed by Anambra Chief Justice, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu who assured the corps members of the state government continued commitment to providing a suitable atmosphere.
