NYSC Inducts 1,626 For Batch B Stream11, Gets 80 Solar Streetlights In Anambra
The National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) has sworn in 1,626 new corps members for Batch B stream 1 orientation course in Anambra.
Mrs Pauline Ojisua, Coordinator of NYSC in Anambra disclosed this while presenting the new corps members at the permanent orientation camp, Mbaukwu-Umuawulu on Friday.
Ojisua said the number of new inductees included 840 males and 746 females,
The Coordinator commended a philanthropist, Chief Christopher Ndubisi, for donating 80 solar-powered street lights to its camp.
She said the solar powered street lights had significantly improved security and visibility in the camp especially at night.
She also appreciated the “Golden 20 Group of Awgbu” for constructing three comfortable corps lodges for Corps Members in Awgbu Community.
“I must take a moment to shine a light on some truly incredible acts of generosity we have witnessed, and are profoundly grateful for them.
“These kind gestures really speak volumes about their belief in the NYSC scheme and their commitment to the well-being of our young people,” she said.
Ojisua described the orientation course as not just a few weeks of activities but as the very foundation of the service year.
She said the programme was meant to equip corps members with the skills, knowledge, and discipline they would need to thrive, during their service year and beyond.
The coordinator appreciated the Anambra government for their unwavering support for the scheme and reminded them of the erosion menacing which was threatening some parts of the camp’s landscape.
“As of today, I am thrilled to tell you that we have successfully registered 1,626 bright and promising corps members for this stream, comprising 840 males and 746 females.
“From what we have seen, the Corps Members are settling in beautifully, and their energy is infectious. They are eager to learn, grow, and contribute their part to the development of Anambra.
“We also have a need for more adequate accommodation for our camp officials,” she said.
In his address, Gov. Chukwuma Soludo urged them to see themselves as active builders of a stronger, more united, and prosperous Nigeria.
Soludo, represented by Mr Patrick Aghamba, Commissioner for Youth Development said his administration was building the foundations for a productive economy with focus on enabling an environment for entrepreneurship and attracting investments.
He urged them to be good ambassadors of the NYSC, their families, alma maters, and states of origin by upholding Uphold the highest standards of integrity, discipline, and professionalism.
“Be law-abiding, respectful of our customs, and mindful of your security, avoid unnecessary night travels and always inform your local inspector and colleagues of your movements, your safety is non-negotiable.
“Approach your PPA with dedication, humility, and a solutions-oriented mindset, whether you are posted to a school, hospital, government office, or private firm, strive to make a tangible, positive difference.
