NYSC Laments Erosion Menace At Orientation Camp, Swears in 1,790 In Anambra

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has expressed worry over the erosion menace ravaging its Permanent Orientation Camp in Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, Awka South Local Government Area of the state.
Mrs. Blessing Iruma, the Coordinator of NYSC raised the alarm at the swearing-in ceremony of 2022 Batch B stream 1 orientation course on Tuesday.
A total of 1,790 including 791 males and 1,029 females were sworn in for the service year in Anambra.
Iruma regretted that the continued existence and integrity of some of the structures in the camp were being threatened by the erosion.
The Scheme appealed to Gov. Chukwuma Soludo to rescue the camp by completing the remaining parts of the project which included landscaping of the premises.
According to her, I wish to remind the governor of the need to address the erosion menace inside the orientation playground.
“DIfferent portions of the camp are already ravaged by the erosion and if not checked early, might threaten the existing structures and destroy the beauty of the camp that has attracted the admiration of all.
“As we wait for the government, we are taking proactive steps to curtail the extent of the damages. On our part, we are taking temporary measures as we can’t fold our hands while erosion sacks us from the camp,” she said.
Iruma congratulated the new corps members for their successful graduation and mobilisation while assuring them of a pleasant stay and safety in Anambra.
“The state government has also assured priority attention to various concerns of corps members. Besides, the synergy we have with security agencies is robust and encouraging.
“We do hope you will translate your talents into practical terms by contributing meaningfully in the different committees and activities you will be co-opted into,” she said.
