NYSC Tasks Youths On Vocational Skills, Holds Cultural Carnival In Anambra
Mr Kehinde Aremu, Coordinator of National Youths Services Corps (NYSC) in Anambra has called on serving Corps members to embrace creative skills and entrepreneurial spirit to achieve economic independence.
Aremu made the call while addressing members of 2020 Batch B Stream A who participated in the scheme’s Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) at the Mbaukwu/Umuawulu permanent orientation camp in Anambra.
He said he would work with the Corps members to ensure that every one of them who was interested would leave Anambra with a skill that will make them self sufficient.
Aremu said as a persons, nothing gave him inner satisfaction than seeing corps members prosper during and after the service year.
According to him, the SAED in-camp training as a seed that has been planted by NYSC and needs to nurtured into a fully grown tree.
“I urge you to be in touch with your trainers as what you learned on camp was merely a foundation upon which their financial success will be built,” he said.
Similarly, the youths in the orientation camp had gained greater appreciation of the cultural diversity of Nigeria and had displayed good knowledge of it during the cultural carnival on Saturday.
Platoon 5 emerged tops in the exciting competition which saw each platoon dramatise and exhibit good understanding of the cultural areas they were assigned to study within a shot but equal period of time.
Platoons 3 and 8 were second and third respectively. They were rewarded for their efforts.
Aremu said the cultural carnival was a string binding factor for the country as it represented the rich cultural diversity of Nigeria.
The camp activities were some in strict compliance to the COVID-19 safety protocols.
