Obi, Obaze Congratulate Ozigbo On Victory At PDP Primary
Mr Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra has congratulated Mr Valentine Ozigbo on his victory at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship congress held in Awka on Saturday. Obi who is the PDP vice presidential candidate in the last general election tasked Ozigbo to be magnanimous in victory while urging other contestants to be gallant in defeat. The PDP stalwart who issued a statement signed by Mr Valentine Obienyem, his Media Aide on Sunday, said it was time to build bridges and work hard for the overall victory of the PDP. “I commend the other contestants who participated in the election for their hard work and sacrifices. “I call on them not to see the conclusion of the gubernatorial primaries as the end of the beginning, but rather the beginning of the end,” he said. Obi described the exercise as most peaceful and transparent while thanking the national chairman and his leadership for, according to him, remaining neutral. “By way of advice, I appeal to the PDP in the state and beyond to pull together as a family towards a journey of building a better Anambra for the future of our children and the light of the nation,” he said. On his part, Mr Oseloka Obaze, governorship candidate of PDP in 2017 said it was a well deserved victory for both Ozigbo and the party. Obaze, a former UN diplomat who issued a personally signed Statement, said he was offering his unalloyed support to Ozigbo as to ensure victory for PDP in the Nov.6 gubernatorial poll. According to him, Ozigbo’s fight was well fought and his victory well deserved . “There is more work left to be done to capture Government House Awka, and reunite our great party ahead of the Nov. 6 elections. “We must also all rally to the cause and collectively work hard to reconcile our party. As a PDP stakeholder, I offer my full and unalloyed support to Ozigbo and his team in the campaign ahead and in every effort to rebuild our party. “Now that the primaries are over, I call on all the PDP aspirants to come out and fully support Ozigbo so that we can collectively achieve victory on 6 November 2021,” he said. Ozigbo emerged from the Congress organised by the national working committee of PDP while Dr Ugochukwu Uba emerged from a parallel congress organised by Chief Chukwudi Umeaba-led faction .
