Obiano Congratulates, Chendo New Chemical Society President
Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra has congratulated Prof. Moses Chendo on his election as the 15th president of Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN) at the just concluded 43rd Annual International Conference in Abuja.
Chendo, an alumnus of University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State is Dean of School of Postgraduate Studies at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University COOU, Uli.
Obiano who spoke through a statement signed by C-Don Adinuba, Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment said Anambra was proud of Chendo who was the first indigene of the state to hold the position since it was founded in 1971.
According to him, this is a renewal period in the history of Anambra, as not just the state government but also the individuals, teams and organisations from here have in the last five years been demonstrating acute competitiveness in various endeavors.
“Just last November an indigene of Anambra, Prof. Charles Egbu, became the first African and the first Blackman to become the vice chancellor of a British university.
“Secondary school and university students from the state have in recent years been breaking records in different examinations,” he said.
NewsMonitor reports that Chendo, a renowned Industrial Chemist was the founding Vice Chancellor of Legacy University, a private university in Okija , Anambra.
He is a member of University of Benin Alumni Association, Awka branch and currently the Public Relations Officer of the association
Chendo was elected on Nov.25 for a tenure of three years.
