Odogwu, Varsity Lecturer Emerges Chairman Of Anambra NUJ Council
Mr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu PhD on Friday emerged winner of the 2022 Triennial Delegate Congress of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra Council.
The election held at Godwin Ezeemo International Press Centre, Awka .
Odogwu, a member of the Correspondents’ Chapel, scored a total of 110 votes out of the 213 valid votes cast in the election.
The result which was announced by Mr Victor Agusiobo, chairman of the Credentials and Election Committee said Mr Abuchi Onwumelu of Fides Newspapers scored 103 votes to come second in the chairmanship contest.
In the Vice Chairmanship contest, Mrs Ngozi Obileri of Anambra Broadcasting Service emerge winner after garnering 142 votes ahead of Mrs Betty Onuchukwu of Correspondents’ Chapel who scored 71 votes.
Mr Ofodile, the sole candidate for the secretary position got 210 votes just as Mr Okechukwu Onuegbu also a sole candidate who scored 211 votes to emerge Assistant Secretary.
Others were Mr Ogemdi Ozoemenam (213), Treasurer; Mr John Ndu (211), Financial Secretary and Mrs Ifeyinwa Iloanya (212) Auditor.
Speaking after the election, Odogwu who lectures in Mass Communications, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka thanked members of the Union for entrusting him and his team with their mandate.
He congratulated his opponents for their gallantry while promising that his administration would be willing to work with for the progress of the council.
