Ogilisi Says Those Responsible For Attack On Sen Ubah, Insecurity In Southeast Won’t Go Scot-Free
The founder of Ogilisi Foundation, an Igbo Socio Cultural organisation has called on all security agencies to hunt down and prosecute those involved in the deadly attack on Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah.
Ubah, the Senator Representing Anambra South Senatorial District was attacked by yet to be identified assailants Sunday night at Nkwo Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka LGA on the old Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.
Though Ubah escaped alive, the attack led to no fewer than 10 persons including two personal aides of the Senator, Police personnel and a prominent chief who was not in the convoy.
In a Statement made available in Awka on Tuesday the Spiritual Leader of Igbo Nation described the attack as barbaric, senseless and not acceptable in a civilised society like Igbo land and to humanity in general..
He wondered why anybody would want to assassinate the Senator, warning that those who have taken to killing their brothers should get ready to face a more catastrophic end if they don’t repent.
“As the spiritual leader of Igbo nation, I want to condemn the assassination attempt on Sen.Ifeanyi Ubah and warn that those responsible for the killing of their Igbo brothers should get ready for catastrophic end..
“God and nature made it clear that those who kill will die in a more horrible manner, their corpses will be eaten by vultures.
“I call on our security agencies to fish out those who are responsible, those that are killing others with hope to go scot free are deceiving themselves because the security agents are after them.
” I am also certain that the gods of Igboland and the spirit of our ancestors will hunt the killers down and destroy them,” he said.
Ogilisi said the recent spate of insecurity in the Southeast had created a bad image for the people and discouraged investment.
He said Igbo people which were known for being their brothers’ keepers, love for education and industriousness were now shadows of themselves because of the crime and vices which were now common.
He commiserated with the families of the victims of the attack wishing them peaceful repose for the souls of the deceased.
