Ojukwu Varsity Medical Students Lament Months Of Power Outage
Students of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Medical School have decried nine months of power outage in the institution.
The students under the aegis of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Medical Students Association said it had become necessary to draw the attention of the general public to the situation.
A copy of the protest letter signed by Anozie Promise, president of the association said the prolonged power outage had severely hindered their academic activities and daily lives
According to the letter, we compelled to address a pressing issue that has been affecting us all for far too long, that is, the persistent lack of electricity at our Awka Campus, which has now extended for over nine months.
“As students in a demanding field, we cannot afford to have our studies disrupted, nor can we continue to work in an environment that lacks basic necessities.
“The impact is not only on our educational pursuits but also on our overall well-being.
“While we express our profound dissatisfaction about this situation, we must also take a moment to appreciate the efforts of our Provost and Vice Chancellor, who have been proactive in ensuring the provision of a transformer.
“However, it is time for us, to make our voices heard, it is crucial that the general public and the Anambra State government become aware of our struggles, so we can advocate for the change we desperately need,” it said.
The COOUTH medical students said they would stage an open protest on Tuesday Feb. 4 to drive home their demand for a better living condition
“Together, we will raise awareness about our plight and demand the necessary action to restore power to our campus.
“Let us stand together and show that we are not just passive observers of our circumstances but active participants in advocating for our right
s as students,” they said
