Ojukwu Varsity teaching hospital trains staff on COVID-19 handling

The Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital (COOUTH) Amaku, Awka has commenced training of its staff on safety and management of Corona Virus case patients.
A statement by Henrietta Agbai, Public Relations Officer of the institution said the training which would be in batches commenced on April 8 and would end on April 16.
Agbai who issued the statement on behalf of Dr Basil Nwankwo, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital said the training was a wholly internal affairs of COOUTH.
She said the roster for participants had been published for various departments on different dates as everybody would not be accommodated in line with the principle of physical distancing.
The hospital expressed surprise about the rumors that nurses nominated for training was being asked to pay money and wondered what the peddlers wished to achieve with such falsehood.
According to the statement, the attention of the management COOUTH, Amaku-Awka has been drawn to an online publication stating that Nurses nominated for COVID-19 training are being asked to pay for the training.
“Management wishes to make it clear that the COVID-19 training which started on April 4 is strictly an internal affair of the hospital.
“Appropriate roster was displayed department by department aimed at maintaining social distancing.
“COOUTH has no mandate from the State Ministry of Health to train outsiders. The general Public is hereby advised to disregard the said publication and be properly advised,” it stated.
