One killed, another injured in Anambra lone car crash
An unidentified man on Monday afternoon lost his life in a lone car accident which occurred in front on Anambra Government House on the Enugu Onitsha Expressway.
An eye witness said the car which was traveling on high speed on the Onitsha bound lane lost control and somersaulted severally before ending up in the drainage.
The other occupant of the car was said to have sustained serious injuries
Mr Andrew Kumapayi, Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Anambra who confirmed the accident and death blamed the crash on excessive speeding.
Kumapayi who spoke through Mr Pascal Anigbo said the vehicle involved a Toyota Avalon car.
“At about 3.19 pm today Monday May 18, 2020 a fatal lone road traffic crash was recorded near Government House, Awka on Awka-Enugu expressway.
“The vehicle involved was a red colored Toyota Avalon with registration number AKD69AFB and two male adults were involved in the crash, .
“The crash was reportedly caused by over-speeding, one death was recorded and the dead victim was taken to the morgue by the Red Cross Society.
“FRSC operatives are on ground ensuring free flow of traffic and clearing of obstruction caused by the vehicle which tumbled.
“The Sector Commander condoles with the family of the dead and admonishes motorists to always drive with common sense speed limits and within stipulated speed limits, especially within built-up areas,” he said.
