Onyekaonwu Emerges AA Candidate For Anambra South Senatorial District By-Election
Mr Chijioke Onyekaonwu, a rights activist, has emerged as the candidate of the Action Alliance AA Party for Aug. 16 Anambra South Senatorial District by-election.
Onyekaonwu was returned unanimously at the congress which was held in Nnewi on Monday.
The nomination exercise was monitored by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Onyekaonwu’s unanimous election is a testament to his leadership qualities and commitment to delivering on the party’s manifesto.
Speaking at the event, Onyekaonwu said his strength lied in being a servant of the people as he was not a billionaire with multiple interests.
He said if elected, he would provide true parliamentary representation and speak the needs of the people to power without fear
Onyekaonwu expressed gratitude to party members and leadership for a peaceful and transparent process, describing the journey as a collective effort by all.
“As a principled politician, I believe in providing true parliamentary representation and speaking to the needs of the people,” he said.
Mr Nobert Okoli, the chairman of AA in Anambra commended the loyalty of party members, saying that democracy was achieved when the majority had their way and the minority their say.
“His emergence is seen as a boost to the party’s chances in the by-election, given his reputation as a principled and people-focused leader,” he said.
