Palm Sunday: Archbishop weeps, urges prayers against COVID

Most Rev. Alexander Ibezim, Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Awka has enjoined Nigerians to pray to God for end of the Coronavirus ravaging the world.
Ibezim made the call during his sermon at the celebration this years Palm Sunday at Our Savior’s Anglican Church, Emmaus House Awka on Sunday.
The cleric who shed tears on the hardship Nigerians were passing through due to the policies put in place by health experts and government to contain the spread said it was time Christians raised their voices to God for help.
Ibezim celebrated the service in company of few priests, members of his family and domestic staff of the local church but I was transmitted through the electronic and social media.
This was in conformity with the Anambra government guidelines on social distancing, hand washing and use of hand sanitizers as measure to check the spread of COVID-19.
Ibezim lamented that Nigeria and other parts of the world were bleeding from the pains of Coronavirus but gave assurances that God Almighty will save mankind from the pandemic.
“He will heal our infirmities; He will restore our health; the Lord is compassionate.
“Let us use the celebration of the triumphal entry of our Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem to call on Him to heal us and save us from the Coronavirus pandemic since viruses are subject to Jesus Christ’s command.
“Hosanna means please save us, only God has the power to save mankind from the plague, I pray God Almighty to hear the prayers of His servants and save mankind from the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We are witnessing crisis of in all fronts ,but God Almighty will save mankind from the Coronavirus in Jesus Christ’s name” he prayed.
