Police Confirm 22 Dead In Okija Stampede
The Police Command in Anambra has confirmed that 22 persons died in the Okija stampede on Saturday.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga who disclosed this in a Statement on Sunday said the Mr Nnaghe Itam, the Commissioner of Police had visited the hospital where the victims of the stampede were taken for treatment.
He said Itam commiserated with family and friends of the deceased and wished the injured a quick recovery.
“Regrettably, 22 people lost their lives in the incident.
“Meanwhile, the investigation into the unfortunate incident is still ongoing” he said.
Ikenga said the Police remained dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of Anambra residents.
