Police Personnel Killed, Another Injured In Anambra Attack
One Policeman was killed and another injured when yet to be identified gunmen attacked the venue of medical outreach in Eziama, Uli in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra on Dec. 29.
Source said that the Uli Global Ambassadors for Development Initiative (ULIGADI) had organised free medical services for the people of the community when the attackers struck.
The slain police officer had been deposited at the Our Lady Lourdes morgue while the wounded was receiving treatment in the same hospital.
DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Anambra confirmed the incident to newsmen
Ikenga described the unfortunate incident as part of the sacrifice Police men and women make to provide protection for the people.
He said the details were still unfolding but assured that investigation had begun into the attack.
According to him, what happened at Eziama Uli, is an example of the sacrifice we pay as Police Officers in service to the nation and humanity.
“The details of the incident are still sketchy but it involves police personnel providing security services.
“Police Operatives have cordoned off the area and an operation is ongoing,” he said.
