Police Rescue 33 Underage Girls From Suspected Trafficking Home In Anambra
The Police Command in Anambra has arrested one Ifeoma Anthony, 37 a child trafficking suspect from her hideout in Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government Area.
The Police also rescued 33 underaged girls from the same house.
SP Toochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra said the arrest followed an ongoing investigation of a case of kidnapping, abduction, missing children and child trafficking.
Ikenga said the Command got tipoff of how three children namely, Divine Mbam, 14 Nwagu Favour, 15 and Oke Blessing 18 who were abducted on Sept. 26, 2025, in Ebonyi State, were sighted at Emma Pigin Road, Aguleri.
He said preliminary investigations revealed that the building where the girls were found was allegedly used for child trafficking and prostitution.
He said the owner of the building identified as one Mrs Ngozi Nnanyelugo, 45 was currently on the run.
“Efforts are currently ongoing to arrest the principal suspect, while investigations continue to determine the full extent of the crime and identify other accomplices.
“The Anambra State Police Command remains committed to protecting lives, especially vulnerable children.
“The Command urges members of the public to continue providing useful information to aid ongoing investigations” he said.
