Rep. Agbodike And His Misguided, Infantile Missile On Egwuonwu
It is with great surprise that we read a colourless piece authored by faceless persons sponsored by Mr Pascal Agbodike, the sitting member representing Ihiala Federal Constituency in the national Assembly.
The unfortunate piece like a misguided missile tried to touch on the integrity of Chief Akai Egwuonwu, the unanimous choice of the good people of Anambra South Senatorial District who declared his availability for the contest in Amichi on Sunday.
In as much as the piece of advice is true and unanimous, Egwuonwu’s only involvement was that it happened at his event, so why would Pascal Agbodike who should be busy with his legislative duty in Abuja single a man whose time has come for attack ?
At the declaration, political stalwarts present were impressed with the resume of Egwuonwu and his fitness for the job advised Agbodike, a two time member and a former deputy speaker of the Anambra House of Assembly and current member of the House of Representatives to jettison the temptation of eyeing the Senate when he is just barely 18 months on seat.
The stakeholders who advised home to shun greed and selfishness went ahead to encourage him to deliver good legislation to the people of his constituency, consolidate his stay and try to return at the next general election as a ranking member.
How lucky can a man be to get such a million dollar political advice for free, especially for a young man whose political kernel was cracked by some benevolent spirits.
But instead of his taking the admonition in good stride, Agbodike, embarked in butterfly hunting in the forest, he unleashed his amateur media thugs to attack Egwuonwu, a celebrated business mogul and Life Patron of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Ijele Anambra.
Instead of seizing the moment to market himself by providing some information about his legislative journey to Abuja, how they have affected his constituents and why he should be considered for promotion to super league, Agbodike through his urchins displayed a rare show of emptiness.
Of course, he has nothing to say, no motion, no bill, not even an argument that would have given the good people of Ihiala some relevance, he simply sits and observes.
In their piece which had no title, no author and substance, Agbodike and his rag tag army under the aegis of “concerned stakeholders of APGA Anambra South Senatorial Zone” took their joke too far by accusing Egwuonwu of sponsoring Edozie Njoku, what can be more laughable?.
This is a man whose Ijele title was given to him by the leadership of APGA for his contributions and loyalty to the party.
Remember, Egwuonwu is a Life Patron of the party, how in the imagination of Pascal Agbodike and his co travelers would they think that a man will pull down his roof on himself.
Ndi Anambra South Senatorial Zone knows(sic) what we want and need, and we cannot have a senator who does not care about our wellbeing, who lacks legislative experience.
In contrast, Rt. Hon. Pascal Agbodike has a proven track record, having served as Deputy Majority Leader in his first term, Deputy Speaker in his second term, at Anambra State House of Assembly from 2015-2023, and currently serving in the 10th House of Representatives. He is also the Chairman of the Committee on Hydro Services and a member of the West African Parliament.
Apart from trying to paint Akai Egwuonwu in the colour of their imaginations and reminding their readers that Agbodike has lived on political feeding bottle for 10 years, they failed to provide any substantial reason the you man (whom we must confess has been lucky) why should give him a higher responsibility.
Agbodike has only demonstrated that he lacked maturity, civility, tact and finesse that is befitting of a Honourable Member of the Federal Representatives of Nigeria.
Afterall, Paschal Agbodike, in the poorly written piece claimed that he had been endorsed by the Governor, one would have thought that he should have been relaxed and enjoyed his endorsement instead of bellyaching and fidgeting over a mere declaration of ambition.
One wonders why the desperate show of insecurity and effort to cover up lies is most unfortunate and disappointing of the young man.
Agbodike should realise that Chief Akai Egwuonwu’s political acceptance is head and shoulder above him and recoil into his cocoon of political holiday in NASS unless he wants to further expose his mediocrity in the marketplace.

Egwuonwu remains a man of the people, with no fewer than 2,000 employees across his chain of businesses, first private entrepreneur to comply with the new minimum wage of N70,000 for the least paid worker.
He is a strong contributor to Anambra economy and a great supporter of APGA, he is the best option for t
he party and the good people of Anambra South.
