Rep. Chidoka showers PDP faithful with vehicles, Tricycles, Rice
Some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Idemili North and Idemili South Federal Constituency have been rewarded for their loyalty to the party and it’s success in the 2019 National Assembly election.
Mr Obinna Chidoka, member representing Idemili North and Idemili South Federal Constituency on Dec. 11 distributed bags of rice and other empowerment items worth millions to the PDP faithful including those in his campaign team and polling agents in the election.
Handing over the items to beneficiaries in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area on Saturday, Chidoka said that the no fewer than 400 beneficiaries had demonstrated strong faith in the party and that he was keeping his word to them.
NewsMonitor reports that the items shared were bags of 50kg rice, four Sports Utility Vehicles, 15 Tricycles, five Shuttle buses, 20 sets of sewing machines, 30 generator sets and cash gifts.
The lawmaker who recalled with pain the memories of two men who were shot to death during the election also gave brand new tricycle to each of their widows Mrs Kosiso Akujimma and Mrs Chinyere Mozie respectively.
Chidoka who was visibly somber described commended the tenacity of PDP faithful whom he said stood their grounds in defense of his mandate which he later reclaimed in Court.
He condemned the politics of violence and called for prosecution culprits and blacklist of such people from taking part in future election adding that those responsible for the death of anybody during election should be made to live with the consequences of their actions.
According to Chidoka, the election that should have been peaceful became a great fight because a candidate left his area to come and cause trouble in Obosi and became a serious fight, and as a result two lives were lost, their widows are here with.
“But you stood your ground and ensured that we won, I promised that I will not abandon you, that is why I have called you today, you will go home with items that will make your household economies better.
“It is for the reason that voting did not take place in about 33 polling units with over 13, 000 voters during the just concluded governorship election in Anambra,” he said.
Chidoka had facilitated Central Bank of Nigeria Business Loans and employment to constituents.
He said he had attracted other projects including roads, borehole, electricity transformers, street lights and classrooms across the 17 communities that he represented promising that more would come in the future.
He said his Constituency was populated largely with business people because there was no land for them to farm, hence the need to empower them with skill and finance.
According to him, my mission is that before the end of his tenure, every community will have one development project or more, already we are working on some roads that have been abandoned.
“I have secured a N500 million CBN loan for businesses and my people are already accessing it,” he said.
A beneficiary of the tricycle, Mrs Kosiso Akujimma, the widow of Ifeanyi Akujimma who was shot dead during the 2019 election said she hope that the gift would give her a new lease of life.
Akujimma said she thought the society had forgotten her with her five and thanked Chidoka for remembering her after two years.
She prayed for God’s blessings on the lawmaker and progress in his political journey.
