Resident Doctors Fete Motherless Children With Food, Cash In Anambra
The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has donated food items and the sum of N100,000 to Model Community Children’s Home, Ifite, Awka, the capital town of Anambra.
The doctors made the donations on Wednesday charity under it’s The Doctors Outreach Programme (TDROP) as part of their pre meeting activities at the Ordinary General Meeting (OGM) due to commence in Anambra.
Dr Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi, National President of NARD, who led members of the association to the Home said they had come to give sense of belonging to motherless children and support their upkeep.
Okhuaihesuyi said unlike other children who were privileged to live in their homes with their parents, those who were in motherless homes had nobody to call father or mother nor a home to call their own.
He lauded the caregivers for their kind and humane disposition in giving the children the best comfort that was humanly possible for a lonely child.
“Unfortunately some children are not privileged to be members of any family, they rely on people like you and the society for comfort.
“So, as part of our OGM, we chose to come and thank you for what you are doing by making these children your own and also to support your activity with these food items and cash token.
“It is our hope and belief that these items would help them grow in health and knowledge of God,” he said.
Responding, Rev. Sis Phenomena Akuchukwu, Officer in charge of the home said the gesture would go a long way to making life easier for the children.
Akachukwu thanked the doctors for having the heart to remember the lowly in the society and prayed that God of orphaned children would bless them according to his riches.
