Soludo’s Victory Comes With Huge Burden… Emecheta
Chief Jude Emcheta, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has said that the victory of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo at the Anambra governorship election came with so much burden on his shoulders.
Emecheta who is the chairman of Anambra Demands Soludo (ADS), a leading support group for the actualisation of Soludo Mandate said this in an interaction with journalists on Thursday.
He said Soludo was under immense pressure to succeed because of the huge expectations which was why Anambra people voted him and the entire country was happy with his emergence.
According to him, Soludo has a big burden on his shoulders to carry, he is not just going to be a political leader for Anambra state but for the entire Igbo race, he is going to be a strong voice and a rallying point for the Igbo man.
“Soludo is a man who will chart the course for Nigeria socio economic recovery, he is not not an ethnic champion but a national and global minded technocrat.
*We are happy that Gov Willie Obiano who has laid a very solid foundation in Anambra is handing over to somebody who knows how to manage the resources of the state also .
“Soludo has so much responsibility on him, people trusted him so much, they believed in him so much,they expect that he will do magic but as someone close to him, I know he will succeed.
“My appeal is that Anambra people should spare him unnecessary pressure, we should allow him come up with his programme so that we can key in afterwards.
“We are entering into another era of continuation, consolidation and transformation of Anambra,” he said
Emecheta who is the Managing Director of Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency said Soludo was the favourite to win the election.
He called on other political parties not to distract him with court cases adding that the governor elect was not desperate to remain in power.
“My appeal is that Anambra people should spare him unnecessary pressure, we should allow him come up with his programme so that we can key in afterwards.
“Soludo was not an underdog, that was why there were so many hurdles for him to scale, there were litigations, campaigns of hate and calumny against him, the opponents wanted to stop him
“He has come to serve, he is not desperate to govern, I beg the opposition not to distract him with court cases, they should bring their ideas and work with him so that Anambra can move forward, he said.
Emecheta said fear and voter apathy jointly contributed for the low electorate participation rate in that election because people always felt that their votes would not count but for the first time people found out that their votes counted.
He condemned buying of votes adding that the government must make laws against vote buying or implement the existing ones so that people could begin to go to jail for buying votes.
“It was a general malaise across the political parties, even the security agencies that should guard against it collecting their coin money, that is where the problem is,” he said.
