Sports Commission Mourn As Ifediora, National Hurdles Champion Buried In Anambra
Eugene Ifediora, a staff of the Anambra Sports Development Commission was on Thursday lsid to rest in his country home, Uke, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra.
Ifediora died on March 12 at the age of 51.
Until his death, Ifediora waa the Secretary of Anambra Athletics Association (AAA) and was regarded as one of the thoroughbred active sportsman and administrator in Commission.
He came into limelight when he won gold in the 100 metres event at the Benue ’96 games setting a national record at that time.
The full team of the Sports Commission led by the Chairman, Patrick-Estate Onyedum attended the funeral to commiserate with members of the Ifediora family.
Onyedum in his short remark, said the death was not just a loss to Uke people but the entire Anambra sports community where Ifediora spent most of his lifetime.
He described Ifediora as a diligent and easygoing staff who executed his duty well as secretary of Anambra Athletics Association and the Sports Commission.
He prayed God to console the family while promising that the Commission would not abandon the family.
Ifediora waa survived by wife and children.
