Stop Dividing Nigerians Along Religious, Ethnicity Lines… Ezeonwuka Urges Politicians
Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, Foundation of Ogilisi Igbo Foundation, an Igbo socio-cultural group, has called on politicians to stop using religion and ethnicity to cause conflict among Nigerians for their selfish political gains.
Ezeonwuka who gave the advice in a Statement on Monday cautioned against using divisive arguments to heat up the polity instead of addressing the issues.
He said instead of talking about fairness, justice, national unity and welfare of Nigerians, politicians had reduced the conversation to religion and ethnicity.
He commended Nigerians for the massive participation in the Feb. 25 presidential and national assembly election and described the peace that followed the exercise as a sign of increased political awareness and maturity among Nigerians.
According to him, those who hate Nigeria sowed the evil seeds of division among Nigerians, using North/South dichotomy,religion and ethnicity as their weapons of deceit.
“These politicians succeeded in dividing us so they could rule and ruin us like animals, destroying sports and cultural festivals that unites the youth.
“We are Nigerians despite our many tongues of languages, never again shall they take away our happiness and ruin our lives.
“Great Nigerian youths, we are the generation with a mandate to establish the United States of Nigeria,” he said.
Ezeonwuka said it was time to seek national healing through equity, justice, fairness and love.
He said political leaders should stop misleading people and encouraging divisiveness by not placing religion and tribalism over the lives and welfare of Nigerians.
According to him, we have to learn to forget and forgive our differences and rebuild on love.
“Nigeria youths the North,South, East and West are one country Nigeria, let us not let them to divide us again
“Never again shall they conquer our land and destroy all our inheritance,” he said.
